Triallist Alex Eckland scored a half century for Worcestershire Academy on the opening day of the Tri-Series clash with Leicestershire Academy at Bromsgrove CC.
Eckland, a pupil at Millfield School, and Xavier Clarke were the players to pass the fifty mark as the Academy were bowled out for 271 in 79.4 overs after electing to bat.
But all nine of the other players in the team reached double figures without anyone scoring more than 21.
In reply Leicestershire reached 134-1 off 24.2 overs by the close.
Clarke dominated a fourth wicket stand of 61 with skipper Zain Ul-Hassan after they had joined forces at 53-3.
He struck 12 boundaries in his 61 off 75 balls before he was eventually fifth out at 128.
Eckland, who has also played for Devon and Somerset, added 66 for the seventh wicket with Riecko Parker-Cole (21).
He was eighth out at 224 and his 60 off 79 deliveries contained eight fours.
Donald Butchart was the most successful bowler for Leicestershire, returning5-89 off 18 overs.
He then helped Ashish Trusz to put on 134 for the opening Leicestershire wicket before the stand was broken right at the end of the day.
The wicket went to Pete Clark who dismissed Trusz for 85 to leave Butchart unbeaten on 45.
