Two Stumpings And Half Century For Cox As Ombersley Triumph

Ben Cox helped Ombersley to a seven wicket win in a Birmingham and District League Premier Division clash away to Dorridge.

The Worcestershire wicket-keeper clocked up two stumpings as Dorridge were bowled out for 117 in 30.3 overs.

Cox then struck 55 not out off 29 balls with two sixes and nine fours as Ombersley chased down a revised target of 115 under the Duckworth Lewis Method in just 15.3 overs.

Ed Barnard hit 28 and Ollie Westbury 18 as Shrewsbury reached 209 in another rain affected match with four wickets and two balls to spare against home side Kenilworth Wardens.

Kenilworth initially totalled 224-8 in 50 overs with Barnard, who shared the new ball with older brother Mike, bowling nine overs for 48 runs.

Patrick Brown picked up four wickets for 79 in eight overs for Kidderminster as they went down by five wickets to visiting Barnt Green who chased down a 293 target in only 35.5 overs thanks to 158 from Warwickshire’s Ed Pollock.

In the other Premier Division match, Alex Hepburn struck 54 off 60 balls for Berkswell who won by 77 runs when they visited Wolverhampton CC.

Berkswell totalled 264 all out despite Ben Twohig’s 3-52 in 10 overs and then Zen Malik made 52 and Tom Fell 23 as

Wolverhampton were dismissed for 187 in 43.4 overs. Hepburn returned 1-23 from six overs.

In Division One, Jack Shantry top-scored with 40 off 67 balls for Wellington who went down by 36 runs at Bromsgrove CC.

The home side made 197 all out, with Shantry bowling his 10 overs for 44 runs, and skittled Wellington for 161 in 46.4 overs.

George Rhodes had figures of 9-1-34-3 for Barnards Green in an 84 run success away to Himley.

Josh Haynes (53) helped Barnards Green to 276-6 in 50 overs, with Adam Finch sending down seven overs for 48 runs, and then Himley were bowled out for 192 in 44.3.

In the other Division One fixture, Charlie Morris (9-1-29-2) played his part in Bridgnorth (217-8) defeating home club Moseley (172 all out) by 45 runs.
