Two Wickets For Morris In Winning Start For Tuggeranong Valley

Charlie Morris made a winning start for Tuggeranong Valley who defeated home side Western District UC by eight wickets in the ACT Premier Cricket first grade 50 over competition.

The Worcestershire paceman picked up two wickets and ended with figures of 2-51 from 10 overs.

Morris removed number three T. Engelbrecht for nought, holding onto a caught and bowled chance, to leave Western District on 21-2 after choosing to bat.

He then returned to the attack to dismiss B. Duffy (29) as Western District were restricted to 187-9 in their 50 overs.

Tuggeranong made light of their target with Justin Haywood (51), Amit Sharma (43) and Timmy Flowers (68 not out) as they reached 189-2 in just 24 overs.

Tom Kohler Cadmore's side, Penrith Panthers, launched their New South Wales Premier Cricket Kinsgrove Sports T20 Cup campaign today (Sunday) and went down by six wickets away to Sydney University.

Penrith opted to bat but were dismissed for 82 in 18 overs with Kohler-Cadmore, batting at number three, making four off six balls.

Australian paceman Pat Cummins picked up two wickets for Penrith but their opponents reached 86-4 in 14.5 overs.

Jack Shantry did not appear in either of Sutherland's two games today in the same competition at home to Manly-Warringah and Gordon CC.

Sutherland defeated Manly-Warringah by six wickets and then overcame Gordon CC by the same margin.
