Worcestershire slow left arm spinner Ben Twohig has already created a favourable impression with England Cricket Development programme director Andy Hurry before flying out with the England Under-17s today for the series with Pakistan Under-17s in Dubai.
County academy coach Elliot Wilson said Twohig, who originally hails from West Yorkshire, had received a "glowing reference" from Hurry after attending a pre-tour training camp at Loughborough.
The Malvern College pupil, who is part of Worcestershire's 2014-15 academy intake, is part of a 15 man party which will play three 50 over and one three-day against their Pakistan counterparts in the UAE.
Twohig has already made his breakthrough into the Worcestershire Second XI, having previously represented the county at Under-14s, U-15s, U-17s and U-19s level.
He played in two Second XI Championship matches last summer against Leicestershire and Yorkshire, and a Second XI Trophy match against Leicestershire.
Twohig also featured in two three-day friendly matches at the end of the 2014 season against Northamptonshire at Kidderminster and Hampshire at New Road.
Wilson said: "Ben is excited and looking forward to his trip away. He is going out there with his eyes firmly open and a very open mind as to what might go on and what might be expected of him.
"He impressed all last summer with his competitive nature and his cricket nous. Pakistan Under 17s in the UAE will be a great test of his character and mental toughness.
"It will provide an invaluable experience in his development as a potential first-class cricketer at New Road.
"He impressed everyone in second team cricket and long may that continue. He is an exciting prospect for Worcestershire, not just our academy but also within our second team.
"He is just looking over the shoulder of people like Shaaiq (Choudhry) and Dolly (Brett D'Oliveira) just to remind them there is a young lad there chomping at the bit to play so we'll see how it all pans out this summer.
"He has just come back from a training camp at Loughborough at the National Performance Centre with England, a pre-camp before they go away.
"The feedback from the staff was very positive. He came back with a glowing reference from Andy Hurry who I met last week."
Twohig will hope to follow in the footsteps of another Malvern College product in Tom Kohler-Cadmore.
Kohler-Cadmore, 20, was a regular member of the Worcestershire side that won promotion to Division One of the LV= County Championship last season.
