Ben Twohig hit his highest score for Worcestershire Seconds who ended the season with a 53 run defeat against Hampshire Seconds on the final day of the four-day match at Kidderminster.

Twohig smashed 89 off 115 balls with six sixes and seven fours after coming to the wicket at 116-4 in pursuit of a 315 target.

The left arm spinner was last out with the total on 261 in a fine end to a season in which he has shown plenty of promise with the ball.

Fellow Academy player and opener Ollie Westbury also showed more of his potential in making a determined 57 off 136 deliveries with five fours.

He shared in an opening stand of 50 with skipper George Rhodes.

Promising leg spinner Mason Crane finished with 4-98 for the visitors who fielded a strong attack which also included Danny Briggs and James Tomlinson.

Hampshire had resumed overnight on 211-4 and set up the declaration by extending their second innings total to 290-6 declared with Jacob Lintott (60) and Andrew Gorvin (70 not out) scoring the bulk of the runs.

Rhodes and Twohig both finished with two wickets with Josh Tongue and Graeme Whiles sharing the two wickets to fall this morning.
