Academy player Zain Ul-Hassan will make his T20 debut for Worcestershire Seconds in tomorrow’s double header with Durham Seconds at Burnopfield CC.
Ul-Hassan had previously played for the Seconds in their Trophy encounter – also against Durham – at New Road last month.
Last summer he was a member of the Midlands side which won the ESCA Under-15 Bunbury Festival T20 competition, scoring an unbeaten half century in the final against London-East at Radley College.
The all-rounder, who plays cricket for Stourbridge in the Birmingham League, is part of the 2016-2017 Academy intake at New Road.
Tom Fell is part of the T20 squad before replacing Joe Clarke in the senior Worcestershire side for the final two days of the Specsavers County Championship encounter with Durham at the Emirates Riverside.
Paceman George Scrimshaw is also set for his first Seconds action of the campaign after recovering from his well documented back problem.
It is another busy week for the Seconds who on Tuesday start a three day Championship match against Durham after last week’s innings win over Northamptonshire inside two days.
Coach Kevin Sharp was delighted with that performance but also for their testing out a full strength Northamptonshire first eleven in the two T20 games.
He said: “To take 20 wickets in a day in the Championship match was a magnificent performance. The bowling attack was fantastic. They bowled beautifully all day and they just looked like getting a wicket all of the time.
“There was a little bit in the pitch, a little bit of swing, a bit of seam, and a little bit of turn and they exploited it and bowled superbly and gave very few balls to hit and it’s a credit to them and I’m very proud of them.
“We also batted particularly well. Alexei Kervezee and Alex Hepburn made decent scores and then Ben Twohig and Jack Shantry did a great job lower down because we were about 250-7 at one point.
“I was really chuffed with them and let’s hope it continues next week.”
Sharp added: “In the T20 games, Northamptonshire played their first team but we gave them two good games.
“Had we got another 20 runs in the first game and perhaps held on to a couple of half chances, that would have been quite close.
“The second game, they batted superbly but we finished only 15 runs shor and Adam Wiffen played brilliantly. He got 99 and ran himself out in the last over but he played superbly.
“He is South African born and has lived in Pershore for the last three years and schooled in Pershore.
“He is living in the UK now and is qualified to play second eleven cricket, he is playing next week and we will see how he goes.”
