Uni Duo Brown And Pennington Setting Pace For Rapids In Blast

University Of Worcester duo Pat Brown and Dillon Pennington have emerged as Worcestershire Rapids leading wicket-takers in the early stages of the Vitality Blast.

Paceman Brown made his senior breakthrough in the competition last season and has taken 10 wickets from five North Group games during the current campaign.

After a wicket-less return against Lancashire Lightning, he has produced figures of 3-28, 2-28, 2-14 and 3-34 in the last four Blast games.

He has also excelled at times as a boundary fielder when fielding in the long off region.

England Under-19 pace bowler Pennington has picked up seven wickets from three games, including 4-9 in the rain-shortened win over Northamptonshire Steelbacks.

He also is the Rapids most economical bowler, conceding 6.33 runs per over.

On the batting front Ross Whiteley and Martin Guptill are the joint leading Rapids run-scorers with 144 apiece from five innings.

But it is Joe Clarke who has the highest strike rate of the front-line batsman with 211.11.
