Riki Wessels has topped the 300 run mark for Worcestershire Rapids in his first summer of Vitality Blast cricket for the club.

The opener has become the 11th player to score 300 plus runs in a season of T20 cricket for the Rapids.

He will be looking to add to that tally in tomorrow’s (Wednesday’s) crunch meeting with his former county, Notts Outlaws, at Blackfinch New Road (4pm start).

Daryl Mitchell holds the record for the most runs in a campaign with 412 four years ago.

He is closely followed by the late Phil Hughes (402) – the only other Worcestershire player to score more than 400 runs in a season.

Mitchell, Joe Clarke, Blast captain Moeen Ali, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Ross Whiteley reached 300 on two occasions.

Whiteley brought up his 100th six in T20 cricket for The Rapids in yesterday’s home encounter with Lancashire Lightning.
