Westbury Hits Century To Lead Hay Park To Victory

Worcestershire CCC Academy player Ollie Westbury scored his first century for Hay Park as they defeated visiting Colts by 16 runs in a Bunbury District Cricket Association first grade encounter.

Opener Westbury continued his fine form by making 111 not out from 138 balls with 11 fours as Hay Park totalled 229-6 in 45 overs.

It followed on from scores of 69 and 42 in Westbury's first two knocks for the club.

Westbury shared in a third wicket stand of 117 with Hay Park skipper J. Whitney (53).

Colts were well placed at 193-3 in reply but Westbury held onto the catch to dismiss top scorer M. Goodwin (90) after he had added 115 with K. Davis (55).

The visitors closed on 213-9 with Westbury bowling seven overs for 38 runs.

George Rhodes was on the winning side for North Canberra Gungahlin who edged out home side ANU by three runs in a Australian Capital Territory Premier Cricket first grade encounter.

Rhodes opened and was dismissed for four as NCG made 179-9 in their 50 overs.

He then returned figures of 1-49 from 10 overs with the ball took a catch as ANU were dismissed for 176 in 49.5 overs with A. Glover returning 5-34, including two wickets in the final over.

Alex Hepburn scored seven not out and bowled nine tidy overs for 29 runs but Willetton Dragons went down by six wickets to Midland-Guildford in a Western Australian Cricket Association first grade match.

Willetton made 189-5 in their 49 overs with Hepburn batting at number seven and Midland-Guildford reached 192-4 in 47.5 overs in reply.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore's side Penrith Panthers will have to chase a formidable total for the second match running if they are to defeat home side Mosman on day two next weekend of the Sydney Grade Cricket first grade match at the Allan Border Oval.

Mosman decided to bat on winning the toss and closed day one on 325-9 from 96 overs.

Kohler-Cadmore scored 50 when Penrith reached a 379 target last weekend on the second day against Eastern Suburbs.
