Westbury Shines But Shrews Are Edged Out For Title

Worcestershire opener Ollie Westbury turned in a fine all-round performance for Shrewsbury but they were edged out by opponents Knowle and Dorridge for the Birmingham League Premier Division title.

Westbury hit 73 off 143 balls with seven fours and an unbeaten 41 off just 15 balls with four sixes by Academy player Dillon Pennington boosted the total to 265-9.

Knowle and Dorridge were then bowled out for 158 in 39.5 overs with Westbury returning 3-27 and Pennington 1-34 but they acquired the single point needed to secure the title with Shrewsbury finishing runners-up.

County keeper Ben Cox scored 42 off 38 balls with one six and seven fours to help Ombersley defeat Wolverhampton by four wickets.

Josh Dell (33) and Jack Haynes (25) also made useful contributions as Ombersley reached a 203 target with nearly 11 overs to spare.

Daryl Mitchell made 17 for already relegated Brockhampton who were bowled out for 102 and went down by nine wickets to Barnt Green.

In Division One, Worcestershire paceman Jack Shantry played a major role for Wellington in a four wicket win over Himley.

Shantry took the new ball and had excellent figures of 10-5-12-3 as Himley were bowled out for 126.

Then, after coming in at 42-4, he made 33 not out from 60 balls with two sixes to see Wellington over the line.

Charlie Morris struck 26 after earlier sending down nine tidy overs for 24 runs as Bridgnorth chased down Attock’s 219 all out and won by two wickets with 10 balls remaining.
