Westbury Top-Scores As Hay Park Romp To Bonus Points Victory

Westbury Top-Scores As Hay Park Romp To Bonus Points Victory

Worcestershire Academy player Ollie Westbury top-scored for Hay Park who overcame visiting Marist by 104 runs in a Bunbury and District Cricket Association first grade encounter Down Under.

Westbury continued his consistent run of form by opening the innings and making 36 off 77 balls with three fours after Hay Park had elected to bat.

It took his run aggregate in all matches this winter to 334 from six innings and followed on from scores of  69, 42, 111 not out, 63 and 13.

Westbury was fourth out with the total on 90 but useful contributions from the middle order lifted the final total to 193-7 from 50 overs.

Marist were then blown away via a dramatic collapse which saw five wickets fall with the total on 13 as they nose-dived to 13-6.

That effectively decided the contest and there was time for Westbury to bowl two overs and claim the wicket of top scorer A. Spinelli for 32 with the wicket-keeper being stumped.

Marist were eventually dismissed for 89 in 25.2 overs and the emphatic nature of Hay Park's victory enabled them to claim two bonus points.

Alex Hepburn's side, Willetton Dragons, enjoyed the better of proceedings on the opening day of the Western Australian Cricket Association first grade match away to Scarborough.

Scarborough won the toss and were bowled out for 145 in 63.5 overs. Worcestershire all-rounder Hepburn bowled six tidy overs for 14 runs.

Willetton in reply reached 125-3 off 26 overs with Hepburn yet to bat. The match will be concluded next weekend.
