Whiteley Geared Up To Face Former County In Leaders Rapids New Road Clash

Table-topping Worcestershire Rapids will be in NatWest T20 Blast action for the second time in 24 hours when they take on Derbyshire Falcons in the North Group at New Road this evening (5.30pm start).

Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes has named the same 12 man squad selected for last night's thrilling clash with Lancashire Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford which the Rapids won by two wickets.

Rapids all-rounder Ross Whiteley will be facing his former county whom he left mid-way through the summer of 2013 to join Worcestershire.

Whiteley would dearly like to repeat his amazing hitting of last summer in the corressponding clash with the Falcons.

He smashed an unbeaten 84 off just 38 deliveries with nine sixes to power the Rapids to the victory which ensured their place in the quarter-finals for the second time in three years.

The Rapids amassed 209-4 and then 2-22 from Joe Leach helped restrict the Falcons to 181-7 in reply.

Whiteley is the Rapids leading six hitter this season so far with nine from the opening five matches.

The Rapids will be home action for the third time this summer, having defeated Leicestershire Foxes but going down narrowly to Notts Outlaws in a thrilling televised clash.
