WHITELEY HEADING HOME AFTER MCC SHARE SPOILS

ross whiteley is heading back to New Road after helping marylebone cricket club (mcc) to share the spoils during their four match tour of pakistan.

the worcestershire ccc all-rounder played in all of the three t20 matches and one 50 over match as part of a squad skippered by mcc president and sri lankan legend kumar sangakkara.

it was invaluable time in the middle for the 31-year-old ahead of the new campaign and worcestershire’s pre-season trip to abu dhabi next month which will include five days action against somerset.

whiteley helped mcc complete victory by four wickets against pakistan super league side, lahore qalandars, with 10 not out in the opening game.

he struck a typically aggressive 51 in game two but pakistan shaheens triumphed by five wickets in the only 50 over fixture.

whiteley made a quickfire 21 when mcc lost to northern by nine runs in the third fixture.

his services with the bat were not required with the bat against multan sultans – a team he played for in the pakistan super league two winters ago.

mcc came out on top by 72 runs to end the tour at 2-2.
