Big-hitting Ross Whiteley has revealed his ambition to play at some stage in the Australian 'Big Bash' Twenty20 competition.
The Worcestershire all-rounder, who last month signed a new four year contract, has seen at first hand the success of the competition during his spells Down Under in the winter playing for Prospect CC.
Whiteley made a big contribution with his six-hitting in Worcestershire reaching the quarter-finals of the NatWest T20 Blast for the third time in four years and has been rewarded with his first England Lions call-up.
He was the joint leading six hitter in the 2015 competition alongside Chris Gayle and Luke Wright, clearing the boundary 29 times.
The former Derbyshire player said: "Have I ambitions to play in the Big Bash? Yes always. That's something that really excites me, the chance to go away and play in those competitions.
"As you can see, they are getting bigger and better each year.
"The Big Bash is one thing I've been around for quite a while with spending a lot of time in Australia during the English winter.
"That is a really exciting block of six to eight weeks cricket.
"It's great, and you see how the fans and the players, how much they enjoy it. To be involved in something like that in the future, would be amazing."
