Whiteley Named In County Squad For Clash With Leaders At Scarborough

Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes has named a 12 strong squad for the LV = County Championship match with current Division One leaders Yorkshire at Scarborough starting tomorrow.

All-rounder Ross Whiteley has been included and is in contention to play in his third Championship match of the campaign.

Whiteley has been in big-hitting form for the Rapids in helping them reach the quarter-finals of the NatWest T20 Blast with the aid of 25 sixes this summer.

But the former Derbyshire all-rounder recently stated that he wants to make an impact in all formats of the game.

Batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who has also played some important T20 Blast innings, is not included in the squad of the players who featured in the innings victory over Hampshire 10 days ago.

Worcestershire travelled up to Scarborough today after an overnight stop in Derby following their four wicket win over the Falcons in the T20 Blast last night at the 3aaa County Ground.

Rhodes said: "They will be ready for getting their own back after we beat them in the T20 game earlier this week so we are expecting a tough game.

"They are very worthy champions and leadng the division by quite some margin and it is obvious they are the real quality team in the division.

"They are odds on I would say to win the Championship again but it is up to us to try and stop their progress."
