Ross Whiteley is relishing his spell with the England Lions and determined to play his natural game after helping level the T20 series with Pakistan 'A' in Dubai.
The Worcestershire all-rounder struck an important 29 not out off 20 balls with two sixes as the Lions triumphed by 41 runs to level the best of five series at 1-1.
It followed on from his 23 off 15 balls during the first encounter between the sides on Monday at the same venue.
Whiteley said: "Coming into a side like this you’re in a danger of maybe trying something a bit different.
"But I stuck true to myself and luckily it came off.
"I quite enjoy those situations, a time when you can really shine I guess. Hopefully it continues throughout the tour."
Whiteley has continued the six-hitting which saw him clear the ropes 29 times in last summer's NatWest T20 Blast – a figure only equalled by Somerset's Chris Gayle and Sussex's Luke Wright.
He said: "I believe the ball flies a little bit further over here. But yes, they were straight out of the middle. It’s been nice to get a few (sixes) away."
Whiteley praised the impact made during the trip of New Road team-mate Joe Clarke who scored 16 off 13 balls in the first game but was ruled out of the second match with a thigh strain.
The former Derbyshire player said: "Joe has really impressed over the tour so far especially in the first game with quick runs at the end.
"I think he’s a little bit down at the moment (because of the injury) but he will come back strong."
There is little time to recuperate as the two sides will meet again today (Friday) in Dubai.
