Worcestershire wicket-keeper Joe Clarke was amongst the runs for South Perth on the opening day of the two-day match with home side Melville in a Western Australian Cricket Association first grade clash.
Clarke came in at number six and held the second half of his side's innings together following an opening stand of 124 after South Perth had elected to bat.
He went to the wicket at 150-4 after a mini collapse and made 55 off 83 balls in a 110 minute stay at the wicket.
England Under-19 international Clarke, who was Worcestershire's leading run-scorer in the Second Eleven Championship last season, was seventh out at 246.
South Perth reached 256-9 by the close and the match will resume on November 8.
Joe Leach again made a solid contribution with bat an ball but was unable to prevent North Canberra Gungahlin from losing by 141 runs away to Tuggeranong Valley in a Australian Capital Territory first grade match.
Leach took the new ball and finished with 2-45 from nine overs as Tuggeranong amassed 277 all out from 47.2 overs after electing to bat.
Worcestershire all-rounder Leach batted at number four and was second highest scorer with 40.
But he was one of only two players to reach double figures as North Canberra were dismissed for 136 in 35.1 overs.
Alex Hepburn helped Willetton Dragons establish a strong position on the opening day of a Western Australian Cricket Association second grade match away to Claremont Nedlands.
Claremont were bowled out for 90 in 44.1 overs after choosing to bat.
Hepburn, who took one catch, then made 15 with three fours batting at number three as Willetton closed on 150-5 from 45 overs. The match will be concluded on November 8.
