Wickets And Runs For Rhodes In Winning Start

George Rhodes contributed with bat and ball as Tea Tree Gully launched their South Australia Cricket Association Premier first grade competition with victory over Adelaide University at the Railways Oval.

The Worcestershire all-rounder, who played last winter for North Canberra Gungahlin, picked up two middle order wickets and finished with 2-37 from 8.1 overs as Adelaide were dismissed for 182 after electing to bat.

Tea Tree Gully then batted their full 50 overs in reply and amassed 292-5 with Rhodes, who came in at number five, scoring 43 off 44 balls with one six and three fours.

He shared in a fourth wicket stand of 88 with T.Dovey (75) while opener M. Weaver (72) was the other main contributor.

In a two day match, Tom Kohler-Cadmore also finished on the winning side for Penrith Panthers in a high scoring success over North Sydney at the Howell Oval.

Penrith had been bowled out for 362 on the opening day last weekend with Kohler-Cadmore dismissed for a single and by the close North Sydney had reached 10-1.

They lost an early wicket today but then skipper J. Avendano dominated the remainder of the day.

He came in at 19-2 and was eighth out at 305 after striking 190 off 179 balls with two sixes and 28 fours.

Penrith earned a narrow win as North Sydney, who had been 136-6 at one stage, were eventually bowled out for 345 in 95.1 overs.
