WOMEN’S RAPIDS BEATEN BY DEVON IN OPENING HOME FIXTURE

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids went down by nine wickets to Devon in a Royal London County One-Day Championship encounter at Himley CC.

The Rapids were bowled out for 69 in 32.1 overs after being put into bat in their opening home fixture of the 2019 campaign.

Skipper Georgie Adcock (11) and Nikki Chaudhuri (11) put on 24 for the Rapids first wicket.

But Sarah Glenn (15) was the only other Rapids player into double figures.

The Devon bowler to do most of the damage was Becca Silk who finished with figures of 10-6-12-5.

When Devon batted, Emily Arlott struck an early blow for the Rapids in dismissing Emma Corney (0) for a duck with only one run on the board.

But Georgia Hennessey (40 not out) and Claire Varcoe (13 not out) saw Devon to their target in 16.4 overs.

Arlott finished with figures of 1-15 from her six overs.
