Women’S Rapids Set For Return To Division Two T20 Action

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids will be competing in Division Two of the ECB Women’s County Championship T20 in 2019.

The Rapids, who were promoted last summer, were beaten by Sussex and Nottinghamshire in their final two Division One matches in the 2018 competition at Welbeck.

In Game One Worcestershire won the toss and elected to bat and opener Chloe Hill scored an undefeated 52 off 65 balls with six fours.

She was supported by Clare Boycott – 26 not out off 20 balls with four fours – in an unbroken stand of 47 as the Rapids closed on 124-3.

An unbeaten 64 off 38 balls from Georgia Adams – the daughter of former Sussex captain Chris Adams – saw Sussex reach their target in 13.5 overs.

She shared an opening stand of 95 with Paige Scholfield who was run out for 29.

In Game Two, Nottinghamshire chose to bat and another opener in Georgie Boyce did the bulk of the scoring with 74 off 56 balls with 11 fours.

The Rapids had made an encouraging start with Boycott, Jessica Humby and Emily Arlott collecting a wicket apiece in reducing Nottinghamshire to 43-3.

Boyce and Lucy Higham (43 not out) added 107 for the fourth wicket before Humby claimed two further wickets as the innings closed on 162-5.

Humby finished with figures of 3-0-24-3.

In reply, Worcestershire were restricted to 106-8 with Boycott (28) and Hill (21) their main run-scorers.
