Worcs Ccc Players And Staff Provide Xmas Cheer For Acorns Hospice

Worcs Ccc Players And Staff Provide Xmas Cheer For Acorns Hospice

Worcestershire CCC players and coaches provided some pre Christmas cheer to a group of local children in Worcester when they made their annual visit to the Acorns Children's Hospice in Bath Road.

Skipper Daryl Mitchell and the county squad bought and then donated gifts when they called in at the children's charity which provides care and support for local children and young people who have life-limiting or life- threatening conditions.

The children were happy when the Worcs CCC party popped in on Thursday to chat to them and then hand over the various presents.

The County players had ensured they purchased specific sensory toys which the children would be able to use.

Any of the remaining presents will be distributed to children who continue to live at home but are still assisted by the charity.

Skipper Daryl said: "Acorns is a very worthwhile cause and all the staff do a fantastic job and it made us all happy to see how happy the children were to receive the presents we had bought for them.

"We are always delighted to make this contribution at this special time of the year (Christmas) for all children.

"We appreciate we are privileged and lucky to do what we do and it's nice to do a little for someone else."

County strengthening and conditioning coach Ross Dewar again co-ordinated the visit to Acorns.

He said: "The staff and parents put so much time and effort in and it was great once again like last Christmas to meet them and the children.

"It is always an eye opener for the lads and coaches who appreciate how lucky we all are and always a great moment when you see the children opening up the presents.

"Hopefully we can continue to help in some way such a great charity as Acorns."
