Worcestershire County Cricket Club have joined the Rainbow Laces campaign to celebrate lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) players and fans at every level of cricket.
The ECB has joined forces with LGBT equality charity Stonewall to bring Rainbow Laces to the NatWest T20 Blast and Kia Super League during the current weekend.
The Rapids will be showing their support during Sunday’s T20 Blast match with Notts Outlaws at New Road (2.30pm).
The campaign will see thousands of players and fans lace up their Rainbow Laces – in matches from August 10-13 – to show that cricket is everyone’s game and that LGBT people are welcome and included at every level.
The Rapids also wore the Rainbow Laces during Friday evening’s T20 Blast match with Durham Jets at the Emirates.
Worcestershire CCC will also have a flag backing the campaign hanging from the dressing room in the Graeme Hick Pavilion, there will be striped stickers on the stumps while the guard of honour will wave flags in support of the scheme.
The County know that most fans welcome and accept LGBT people in sport.
However, we can’t let a minority of fans spoil the game and make LGBT fans feel unwelcome watching or playing cricket.
