Worcs Ccc Victory Push Frustrated By Wash-Out At Swalec Stadium

Worcestershire CCC's victory push at the Swalec Stadium was frustrated by the weather as constant rain meant no play was possible on day three of the Specsavers County Championship clash with Glamorgan.

Glamorgan were struggling at 42-4 in reply to Worcestershire's 456-6 declared which had secured them maximum batting points for the third successive match.

But no play has been possible in Cardiff since 3.50pm yesterday and the forecast is not much brighter for tomorrow.

Play was finally called off for the day at 5pm.

It means that Worcestershire have lost a total of 633 overs out of a possible 1,440 to rain in their weather hit start to the campaign.

That amounts to 43.96 per cent of the playing time falling foul to the elements.

Today was Worcestershire's fifth total wash-out of the season so far after no play was possible against Kent at New Road in the opening fixture.

The home fixture against Essex also lost the equivalent of more than a day's play to the elements and effectively ended the hopes of either team forcing a positive result.

Only the match versus Gloucestershire at Bristol has seen a sizeable chunk of play although that was played in bitter cold conditions!

*Worcestershire Seconds suffered the same fate at Barnt Green against Warwickshire Seconds with play called off in the early afternoon.

The two sides will now hope to play a three-day match starting tomorrow at the same venue.
