Worcs Duo Earn Selection For Best Of Bunburys Mathes

Worcestershire CCC duo Alex Hinkley and Peter Clark have been selected to represent the Midlands-North in the ‘Best Of Bunburys’ matches against South and West-London and East at the National Performance Centre, Loughborough from August 27 to 29.

Top order batsman Hinkley and all-rounder Clark have earned their call-up after impressing for the Midlands in the Bunbury Festival at Stowe School earlier this month.

Their selection follows on from the Worcestershire trio of Jack Haynes, Matt Davis and Xavier Clarke being chosen 12 months ago.

The format of the ‘Best Of Bunburys’ had changed this year from a three-day game to two 50 over matches on August 27 and 29 and two T20 matches on August 28.

Hinkley is part of Worcestershire CCC’s Under-15 age group programme and EDP programme.

Clark is part of the County’s satellite Shropshire academy which is run by former County paceman Paul Pridgeon

Worcestershire Academy coach Elliot Wilson said: “Everyone is excited about these two young cricketers.

“They both did very well a couple of weeks ago at Stowe School at the Bunbury Festival ad quite rightly justify their inclusion for the Best Of Bunburys matches.

“Alex is a top order batter. He is a Herefordshire lad and plays for Brockhampton in their first team in the Birmingham League and currently attends Bromsgrove School.

“He has done really well. His performances have been very good this summer. He has scored a quantity of runs and rightly deserves his opportunity to play in the best of Bunburys game.

“Peter is an all-round left arm spinner-batter. He has the ability to bat in the top four and in the last three weeks he has been the main spinner in our Under-17 side.

“He is doing very well. He is a talented young man, a Shrewsbury schoolboy and worked with Paul Pridgeon on the satellite academy and is a strong candidate to join the full academy this winter. He will be on the short list.”
