Worcs Keeper Clarke In The Runs Again As South Perth Triumph

Joe Clarke's fine form for South Perth CC continued in the 147 run win over visiting Rockingham-Mandurah in a Western Australian Cricket Association first grade match.

The Worcestershire wicket-keeper scored his fifth half century in seven first team innings for his club this winter.

Clarke has indicated he wants to push for a first team place at New Road by scoring heavily this winter and in the second eleven.

The England Under-19 player batted at number three and scored 54 off 51 balls with three sixes and four fours.

He came to the wicket at 99-1 and shared in a third wicket stand of 97 with H. Cartwright who went onto make 97.

Clarke was third out at 212 and South Perth, who elected to bat on winning the toss, went onto make 286-5 from their 50 overs.

His other half centuries came against Melville (55), Subiaco Floreat (52), Scarborough (57) and Freemantle (60 not out) – plus three other fifties for the Colts team for which he is still eligible to play.

Rockingham-Mandurah never looked like reaching their target and were dismissed for 139 in 38 overs.

Clarke collected one catch which accounted for opener J. Smith for a duck.
