Moeen Ali has hailed the unity in the England dressing room as a key factor as they strive to become "the number one team in the world."
The Worcestershire all-rounder is preparing for his first international game of the 2016 dmestic season in tomorrow's first Investec Test against Sri Lanka at Headingley.
Moeen has just completed a trio of Specsavers County Championship matches, averaging 91 with the bat, ahead of a busy summer with his country.
It follows on from being part of the England side which triumphed this winter in the Test series in South Africa and reached the ICC T20 final in India before losing to the West Indies.
Moeen said: "The Test series in South Africa was big, the one-day series in the UAE and then the T20 World Cup was good as well.
"We've been going well in the last year or so and the guys are pretty pumped and looking forward to this year.
"The guys all get on brilliantly. Everyone gets on really well and there is no bad egg. It is a very easy changing room to settle into and be happy.
"The senior guys are very good. They make it easy for the guys who are pretty fresh into the team.
"We all understand each other and understand our job is to win games for England.
"We know there is a direction and we want to become number one team in the world and that is what unites us in the changing room."
Moeen has been impressed with the impact made by head coach Trevor Bayliss.
The 28-year-old said: "He is very good. He has got lots of experience, especially in tournaments and things like that. He has done brilliantly.
"Since he came in, he has been amazing to work with. He is very calm. He doesn't say a lot but, when he speaks, you definitely listen."
