PARKER-COLE HELPS ACADEMY TO NARROW T20 SUCCESS

Riecko Parker-Cole hit a quickfire 44 to earn Worcestershire CCC Academy a two wicket win in the second of two T20 matches with their Warwickshire counterparts at Barnt Green.

Worcestershire were set a total of 108 and lost four wickets for 39 runs.

But Parker-Cole and Joe Miszkowski turned the game in Worcestershire’s balance with a partnership 55.

The former was the dominant partner and struck three sixes and four fours in his 23 ball knock but Miszkowski (18) provided invaluable support.

Four wickets then fell for 13 runs but Reeve Evitts and Josh Baker saw Worcestershire over the finishing line with an over to spare.

Earlier Warwickshire had been restricted to 107-7 after opting to bat.

Opener Ben Chapman-Lilley made the major contribution of 39 before he was caught and bowled by Dan Holland (2-0-6-2).

Jacques Banton (4-0-19-1), Baker (3-0-22-2), Aaron Tomson (4-0-13-2) and Parker-Cole (4-0-16-0) kept a tight grip on proceedings.

Victory redressed the balance after Warwickshire had triumphed by four wickets in the opening game of the day.

Worcestershire opted to bat and opener Alex Hinkley made 47 off 20 balls with one six and seven fours.

He added 71 for the fourth wicket with Miszkowski (32 off 28 balls).

But seven wickets fell for 27 balls as Worcestershire were bowled out for 117 in 18.3 overs.

Warwickshire reached 60-1 but then declined to 83-5 before winning with four balls to spare.

Baker (4-0-13-1), Tomson (4-0-15-1), Evitts (3-0-21-2) and Holland (4-0-19-1) were the wicket-takers.
