RAPIDS SIGNING TURNER WARMS UP IN STYLE FOR BIG BASH

worcestershire ccc 2020 vitality blast signing ashton turner warmed up for the kfc big bash league by hitting a quickfire half century for perth scorchers – and also picked up two wickets.

turner, who is available for the entire blast competition next summer with the rapids, showed his hitting prowess in a 47 run win over adelaide strikers in a practice match at the karen rolton oval.

the 26-year-old raced to 61 off just 31 balls as the scorchers amassed 206-7 in their 20 overs.

turner shared in a fourth wicket stand of 91 with cameron bancroft and between them they clubbed seven sixes and nine fours.

it was the kind of hitting from turner that rapids supporters will be looking forward to witnessing next summer at New Road.

turner also showed his prowess with his off spin with a double breakthrough as his side ran out comfortable winners.

the scorchers take on sydney sixers in their opening bbl match tomorrow (wednesday).

turner is part of a 13 strong squad which will be skippered by mitchell marsh and will include liam livingstone (lancashire) and chris jordan (sussex) as the overseas players.
