Rhodes: “mr Consistency” Morris Is “england Player In The Reckoning”

Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes has hailed paceman Charlie Morris as "Mr Consistency" and believes he is "a definite England player in the reckoning."

Morris has taken 46 first class wickets in total this season – his first as a regular member of the Worcestershire side – and signed a new contract until the end of the 2017 season.

Rhodes believes he has helped to fill the "huge boots" of Alan Richardson who retired in the winter to become Warwickshire's bowling coach.

He said: "Charlie is an absolute diamond and, to me, he is the person who has made the most impact in the season as a newcomer.

"Charlie has been bowling consistently well all season long. That is one thing about Charlie, he is Mr Consistency.

"In many ways he is filling those huge boots of Alan Richardson and doing a fine job."

Rhodes added: "Can he go all the way with England? I don't mind jumping the gun. I think he is a definite England player in the reckoning.

"Why? Because he has got control, has got aggression, can do things with the ball at pace, but most importantly, he has got a fantastic attitude.

"He has a real desire to do as well as he can do, and that's playing international cricket and being successful.

"That is what he is aiming at so he has got a great chance because he has got the right attitude."
