ROSS AND MCC FALL JUST SHORT OF TARGET IN LAHORE

Ross Whiteley scored a quickfire 21 but Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) went down by nine runs to Northern in the third match of their tour of Pakistan.

The Worcestershire CCC all-rounder came in at 74-4 in pursuit of a target of 153 in the T20 match at Aitchinson College, Lahore.

He added 40 for the fifth wicket with Nottinghamshire’s Samit Patel.

Whiteley, who scored a half century in the previous match against Pakistan Shaheens, faced only 16 balls before falling to Mubasir Khan.

Patel ended unbeaten on 39 from 35 deliveries but MCC fell just short and closed on 143-7.

Munir Riaz (2-21), Khan (2-24) and Sohail Tanvir (1-25) were the main wicket-takers.

Earlier new Sussex signing, Ravi Bopara, had returned the excellent figures of 4-0-14-3 for MCC.

But 64 from Ali Imran ensured Northern posted a competitive total of 152-5.
