Skipper: Players Held “frank And Positive Discussion” After Derby Setback

Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell says the players held a "frank and positive discussion" in the aftermath of the defeat against Warwickshire in the LV = County Championship last week.

The county suffered a two-day setback after being bowled out for 80 inside a session in their second innings.

But they bounced back with a typically fighting performance to claim seven Middlesex wickets on the opening day of the clash at Uxbridge yesterday.

Mitchell said: "After the Warwickshire game we talked openly about what had happened in the game.

"It's not always easy to do that in a team enviroment after such a defeat.

"But we encourage an open policy at the club and it was a frank and positive discussion.

"After Somerset chased down 400 to beat Nottinghamshire, we slipped to the bottom of the table.

"But we have to focus on our own efforts and trying to win three or four games which I know we can achieve."

Rain caused the second day at Uxbridge to be delayed with Middlesex on 295-7.
